2019-2020
SKYSTONE
Our Season
Throughout this season, Skystone, our team was very successful. At our first qualifying event, we won winning alliance caption and the first inspire award, which was a first for our team. This earned us a spot at the regional competition. We competed at two more qualifying events. We also competed at the Vermont regional competition and earned second inspire, but we did not earn a spot to the Championship. Unfortunately, our regional competition was cancelled because of COVID-19. However, since we won both winning alliance caption and first inspire at our qualifying event, we were one of the teams who earned a spot at the World Championship in Detroit, Michigan. This would have been our third year going to World's if it had not been cancelled.
Spreading Robotics Throughout our Community
Even though we live in a rural part of the Adirondacks, we work hard to spread robotics throughout our community by participating in and organizing various events. We have shared with others about our team, FIRST, and robotics at multiple local events including Food From the Farm, Clinton County Fair, and Day on the Farm. We have also organized many events including Robotics Day, presentations to many organizations, and we demonstrated our robot at car washes, bake sales, and garage sales.
Lending a Helping Hand
One of the main goals our team strives for is helping others, whether this be other teams, our community, organizations, or even strangers. Our team is known for helping others and for being gracious professionals both in robotics and out. Some of the things we have done include helping set up FTC competitions, helping various other FIRST teams, helping the elderly in our community, and volunteering at local events.
